Nitrauer News — October 26th

*Please see October 2018 Minutes for the minutes from our PTO meeting earlier this month.  The next PTO meeting will be Tuesday, November 13th.  Please note this is the second, not third week of November.

*Nitrauer Knights Spirit Wear products are now available! Paper orders (Nitrauer Knights Spirit Wear) will be accepted until Wednesday, November 14th and online orders (Online Spirit Wear Orders) until Saturday, November 17th.   Apparel is available for both youth & adults, with youth extra small also available this year.  Additionally, you can customize clothing items for an additional $5 per item.  Orders should be in hand by November 29th.  If the item is a gift, please let us know.  Gift items will be available for pick up at the Pottery Painting on December 1st.  Please direct questions to Alex Massie at

*Join us Saturday, December 1st  in the Nitrauer Cafeteria for Nitrauer’s Annual Holiday Pottery Painting to create hand painted items for the holiday season!  More information and an order form (Pottery Painting Order Form) will be sent home with students soon.  All orders must be pre-ordered and pre-paid by Wednesday, November 7th.  We hope to see everyone there!

*Join us this evening for our Annual Nitrauer Fall Fest from 5-7 pm!  Plan on eating dinner at Nitrauer before heading out for the parade through the surrounding neighborhood as Scoops food truck will be at Fall Fest.  Kids are welcome to wear an appropriate costume (no weapon accessories).  Do you have a great pumpkin design?  Bring your pumpkin for the “Great Pumpkin” display.  Sign up here to donate/volunteer: Fall Fest Volunteer/Donation Sign Up. For more information, see Nitrauer Fall Fest 2018.

*Come cheer on Ms. Ducey & Ms. Shoemaker as they join other MTSD staff & students to take on the Harlem Wizard’s basketball team Thursday evening, November 8th to raise money for MTHS Mini-THON and the Four Diamonds Fund.  Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door.

*Thanksgiving is a time for gathering family and friends to celebrate the people and things in our lives for which we feel grateful.  Making a special feast is one way families show gratitude for each other.  By supporting Nitrauer’s Thanks-GIVING Project, we can make that feast a little easier to provide for our families who find themselves in need.  To kick off this voluntary service project, we will be collecting non-perishable food items at the FALL FEST on October 26th from 5:00-7:00.  Items can be placed in the collection box outside the school.  If you are unable to donate at the event, don’t worry, there is still a lot of time to help.  We will be collecting items in the school from Oct. 29- Nov. 14th.  Please direct questions to Missy Weaver or Adrienne Burge

*Save the dates for the Scholastic Book Fair which is coming your way after Thanksgiving (Tuesday, November 27th – Friday, November 30th)!  A sign up genius will be coming your way as there will be lots of ways for families and friends to help.

*The Nitrauer Student Directory is now complete.  If you signed your student up for the directory, you should have received a copy earlier this week.  Contact Jessica Whitley at with any questions.

*As the weather is getting cooler, please be involved in your children’s school clothing choices as much as possible, and have them bring jackets for recess.
