Announcements:

*Picture retakes will be next Tuesday, November 13th.  Students must bring their original school pictures to retakes in order to receive new pictures for free.

*Nitrauer Knights Spirit Wear products are now available! Paper orders (Nitrauer Knights Spirit Wear) will be accepted until next Wednesday, November 14th and online orders (Online Spirit Wear Orders) until Saturday, November 17th.   Apparel is available for both youth & adults, with youth extra small also available this year.  Additionally, you can customize clothing items for an additional $5 per item.  We plan to deliver Spirit Wear November 30th, unless you indicate it is a gift.  Gift items will be available for pick up at the Pottery Painting on December 1st.  Please direct questions to Alex Massie at alexmassie8@gmail.com.

*We have several opportunities to make this November a month of giving:

  • Making a special feast is one way families show gratitude for each other. By supporting Nitrauer’s Thanks-GIVING Project, we can make that feast a little easier to provide for our families who find themselves in need.  We will be collecting non-perishable food items in the school through Nov. 14th.  Please direct questions to Missy Weaver weavermi@mtwp.net or Adrienne Burge adeitch77@yahoo.com.
  • Next Friday, November 16th, go the EXTRA mile for the Manheim Township Educational Foundation.  On that day, MTEP is participating in the Extraordinary Give, Lancaster Country’s Largest Day of Giving.  For 24 hours only, visit ExtraGiveMTEF to make a donation.  Any donation made online that day will be partially matched by the Lancaster County Community Foundation.

*The First Mix It Up Lunch of the year will be held next Friday, November 16th.  Students consistently identify the cafeteria as a place in their school where divisions are clearly -and sometimes harshly – drawn.  So, every other month we ask students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch.  Studies have shown that interactions across group lines can help reduce prejudice.  When students interact with those who are different from them, biases and misconceptions can fall away.  During Mix It Up Lunch we will ask parent volunteers to help hand out popsicle sticks to mix students up with their seating and help students interact while they eat their lunch.  If you would like to volunteer for this event please sign up at: Mix It Up Lunch Volunteer Sign Up.  If you have any questions please contact Maggie Foley: maggie_foley@hotmail.com

*This year’s Scholastic Book Fair will run from Nov. 27th-29th.  There are many ways to HELP (setup, preview day with students, student purchases, run registers in the evenings, cleanup, and more).  See Book Fair Volunteers for times and details!
*WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR?
*There will be an online Book Fair running from Nov 16-Dec 6. If you are unable to come to the book fair, or would like to order books without your kids knowing, you can place an order online and the books will be delivered to school shortly after the online fair ends.
* Scholastic is also offering ewallets. This is an opportunity for parents to assign a spending limit using a credit card on an ewallet account for your child instead of sending in cash or checks during school. More information will follow on the 16th!

*Do you have any pictures of Nitrauer events?  If so, please email them to nit.yearbook@gmail.com for possible entry in this year’s yearbook. If you have any questions, contact Diana at dehanna77@yahoo.com.

*As the weather is getting cooler, please be involved in your children’s school clothing choices as much as possible, and have them bring jackets for recess.
