Nitrauer News — January 7th

This Week at Nitrauer:

Tuesday, January 8th – Deadline to order spiritwear (Online Spirit Wear Orders)

Announcements:

* Due to popular demand, we are offering a SECOND round of spiritwear ordering for anyone who missed out.  Orders can be placed at Online Spirit Wear Orders or via paper (Nitrauer Knights Spirit Wear).  We will be closing all ordering, paper & online, Tuesday, January 8th.

*Family Bingo Night is Friday, January 18th from 7pm-8:30pm in the High School cafeteria.  The snow makeup date will be January 25th.  See Bingo Night 2019 for more information, as well as to register.  Register by Wednesday, January 16th to join the fun.

*Our next Mix It Up Lunch will be held Friday, January 18th.  Students consistently identify the cafeteria as a place in their school where divisions are clearly -and sometimes harshly – drawn.  So, every other month we ask students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch.  Studies have shown that interactions across group lines can help reduce prejudice.  When students interact with those who are different from them, biases and misconceptions can fall away.  During Mix It Up Lunch we will ask parent volunteers to help hand out popsicle sticks to mix students up with their seating and help students interact while they eat their lunch.  If you would like to volunteer for this event please sign up at: Mix It Up Lunch Volunteer Sign Up.  If you have any questions please contact Maggie Foley: maggie_foley@hotmail.com.

*Book Nook DonationsWe are thrilled at the number of wonderful books pouring in so keep up the good work.  Please only donate K-4 appropriate books.   We have volunteers spending hours sorting and organizing books.  Thanks so much volunteers! Unfortunately, we  CANNOT use young board books, baby books, adult level books or damaged books (water or mold), and it is a process to weed/dispose properly from the growing collection of awesome books that the children have brought us.  Please do not send anything but age appropriate K-4 books.  For examples of what would be considered age appropriate, use Scholastic books flyers or your scholastic website as a reference.  Books can be dropped off in the office.  THANKS families!
