*The PTO has the following openings for the 2019/2020 school year:
**Back to School Ice Cream Social – coordinate date and time with Friendly’s. Ice cream social is the first week of school.
**Fun Fest – coordinate spring activity involving food trucks, games, prizes, and other activities.
**Fall Fest Understudy – coordinate fall activity involving food trucks and other activities. Would work under current coordinator.
**Staff Appreciation Lunch Understudy – coordinate spring appreciation lunch for the staff. Would work under current coordinator.
**Superintendent Lay Advisory Council (SLAC) Representative – attend bi-monthly, evening meetings with the superintendent and other school representatives. Report back to Nitrauer’s PTO on the subjects presented.
**Laminating & Copying – assist with laminating, copying needs for teachers during school hours; requires security clearance.

*PSSA Testing will continue this Tuesday & Wednesday. Your help at home is appreciated during this time (and always), in being sure your child is getting appropriate rest during these testing windows. Snacks will be provided for 3rd and 4th graders on PSSA test days. Attendance and getting to school on time is important during this testing period as testing begins promptly at 9:15am. Please see (2019 PSSA Color Days) for the color days during the PSSA’s.
*There are still some tickets available on a first come, first serve basis for Movie Night at Penn Cinema on May 1st or 8th! We will be watching Wonder Park; a movie that encourages imagination to come alive! Movie tickets are just $5 a person! See Family Movie Night for more details. Confirmation will be sent via email.
* The penny challenge for Ponderosa Elementary School ends this Wednesday, May 1st. Please Penny Drive – Ponderosa Elementary School for more information.
*May 6th-10th is Teacher Appreciation Week. Please consider doing something special for your child’s teacher that week. The PTO will host a Staff Appreciation Luncheon on Wednesday, May 8th. See Teacher Appreciation Lunch Sign-Up to sign-up to donate an item to the luncheon. Contact Kim Romano at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
*Our last Box Top collection for the 2018-2019 school year is rapidly approaching. Please continue clipping and saving those Box Tops. Sheets for your box tops can be found at Box Tops for Education Forms. Send them into the school anytime by Friday, May 10th.
*For ideas on how to collect more box tops for our school, please visit boxtops4education.com and/or download the Box Top app. This is such an easy way to earn money for our school. Let’s finish out the year strong! Thank you so much for your participation!
*On Tuesday, May 14th, from 11:15-11:45, incoming kindergarten students and a parent are invited to Nitrauer for an introduction to Kindergarten Story Time. Dr. Hancock will read a book to the students and their parents at 12:30 in the Nitrauer library. The kindergarten teachers will stop by and introduce themselves to the group, too! If you have a child starting kindergarten in August, please consider joining us for Kindergarten Story Time!
*FUN FEST 2019 will be held Friday, May 17th from 5-8pm! This is an annual event at Nitrauer where friends and family can come together as a community. All proceeds benefit the Nitrauer PTO sponsored projects and events. See Fun Fest Flyer 2019 for more details as well as to order wristbands and raffle tickets in advance. There will also be many volunteer needs to make Fun Fest a success. Keep an eye out for the sign-up. Additionally, each class has been assigned a theme for the Basket Raffle. *Please keep bringing us your wonderful used books for the Book Nook to give us a good start for the first book nook next fall. The collection gets more exciting every time thanks to your generous donations of k-4 gently used books.
*If you are missing any jackets, sweatshirts, lunch boxes, etc. please have your student check the lost & found. There are many items waiting to be returned to their home.
