*Hopefully, everyone was collecting Box Tops over the summer. You may have noticed some of your usual favorite Box Top products have transitioned into the “digital version” and no longer had a physical Box Top to cut out and turn in, rather an indicator that a Box Top was available by scanning your receipt into the Box Top app. This is super easy to do. Simply download the Box Top app, where you will be able to choose our school, and follow the instructions to scan your receipt. The app will automatically pick up ANY and ALL products eligible for earning and will immediately update our school earnings. Please note there is a time limit on scanning receipts (must be scanned within 14 days). Please see Digital Box Top Info for more information reagrding the new digital program and Participating Products for a current list of participating products. You may also contact Allison McCarthy at allisonrmccarthy@comcast.net with any questions.

**Please note: Products that have not yet transitioned and still have the physical Box Top to cut out may still be turned in (as long as they have not expired) AND their receipt may be scanned into the app as well, giving Nitrauer double the earnings!**  The first Box Top Collection will be Friday, October 4th.

*Each school year, a student directory is compiled courtesy of the PTO board and directory coordinator for the families of students attending our school.  Use the following link to complete the form to sign-up for this year’s Nitrauer Student Directory:  Student Directory Sign-Up.  Due to families moving in and out of the district and protection of school records, information is requested each school year.  Participation in the 2019/20 Nitrauer Elementary Student Directory is optional and is password protected. While teachers may provide a list of student names, participating in the directory eases communication between fellow parents for class work, birthday invitations, or carpooling.  In accordance with the district’s reduced paper policy, a link to the protected directory is emailed once the directory is completed.  This email is only to those who participate.  Information should be entered/completed by a parent or guardian.   Please complete the form by September 30th to be included in this year’s directory.

*Parent Night at Nitrauer is next Thursday, September 12thPlease note that this event is for parents only.  Beginning at 6:30pm, Dr. Hancock will meet with Grades K-2 parents, as well as parents with more than one child at Nitrauer.  She will have a second session with Grades 3-4 parents as well as parents who missed the first session at 7:30pm.  These sessions are NOT just for new-to-Nitrauer parents this year.  Beginning at 7pm, there will be 2 sessions in which classroom teachers will explain the curriculum for this year.  You will also receive information regarding student expectations for the year.

*The last Mix It Up Lunch for this school year is coming up on Friday, May 17th.  Students consistently identify the cafeteria as a place in their school where divisions are clearly -and sometimes harshly – drawn.  So, every other month we ask students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch.  Studies have shown that interactions across group lines can help reduce prejudice.  When students interact with those who are different from them, biases and misconceptions can fall away.  During Mix It Up Lunch we will ask parent volunteers to help hand out popsicle sticks to mix students up with their seating and help students interact while they eat their lunch.  If you would like to volunteer for this event please sign up at: Mix It Up Lunch Volunteer Sign Up.  If you have any questions please contact Maggie Foley: maggie_foley@hotmail.com.
