Nitrauer Update — January 15th

Nitrauer Weekly Update

Week ending Fri, Jan. 15

From Dr. Hancock

Hello, Nitrauer Families,

I hope you had a great week! I had the pleasure of visiting many classrooms–both remote and face to face–this week. Seeing students learning, smiling, and positively interacting with their teachers and peers was certainly a highlight of my week! Another highlight was students stopping me at arrival (vs. the other way around) to tell me a sentence for the word of the week (“patience” this week) for morning announcements.

Here’s some important information and upcoming events:

Monday, January 18 – Teacher Inservice Day/No School for Students

Smile! Picture Retake Day is January 28

  • Face-to-Face and Remote Learners are able to have a picture retaken. Remote learners will come to Nitrauer between 2-3:30pm on this early dismissal day. Please enter through the doors near the gym/auditorium on the side of the school. Parents will wait outside of the school and all students entering the building must wear a mask. Please bring your original photos to retake day.
  • To order pictures go to mylifetouch.com and use picture day ID: 7MKFK6TVE

Picture Day Schedule

  • Remote Learners: 2:00-3:30

Very Important Reminder: It is imperative that you contact me (hancocwe@mtwp.net) before reaching out to your child’s teacher regarding a non-quarantined child and his/her current educational option. If your student is taking a sick day from school he/she will not be learning that day via Zoom. Please contact me with questions.

Please reference this document for updated information you would receive if your child(ren) required being quarantined. If you were to receive this individually, the specific dates would be included. This is being shared to address some of the questions and concerns we frequently receive.

Hello, Nitrauer Families!

Happy New Year!  I hope your family enjoyed the holiday break.

This is a reminder of the schedule this week, starting Monday, Jan 4 and ending Friday, Jan 8,

This week we are following a YELLOW or HYBRID schedule.  This means:

  • Students with last names A-L report face-to-face Mon and Tues (1/4 and 1/5).
  • Students with last names M-Z report face-to-face Wed and Thurs (1/6 and 1/7).
  • When students are NOT face-to-face they are to be following the Zoom schedule and work assignments through Seesaw from home.
  • We will take attendance and monitor students’ presence on Zoom and the work they are completing/submitting.
  • All students will earn remotely from home on Friday (1/8) unless you have been told differently–see next bullet point.
  • This week’s schedule applies to all students unless you have been notified by your child’s teacher(s) or me.  I have sent a reminder to families whose students have a different schedule for the week.

As with our previous yellow or hybrid week, everything remains the same with school breakfast, lunch, bus schedules, and the instructional day.

Thank you for your flexibility!

Happy 2021!

1. It’s very important you contact me (hancocwe@mtwp.net) before reaching out to your child’s teacher regarding a non-quarantined child and his/her current educational option.

2. Please see the message* between the lines from the PTO for a way to say thank you to the Nitrauer teachers and staff.

3. The week we return after break, Jan 4-8, is a yellow/hybrid week. This means:

  • Students with last names A-L report face-to-face Mon and Tues (1/4 and 1/5)
  • Students with last names M-Z report face-to-face Wed and Thurs (1/6 and 1/7)
  • All students learn remotely from home on Friday (1/8).
  • This applies to all students unless you have been notified by your child’s teacher(s) or me.

Nitrauer Update — December 11th

From Dr. Hancock

Good afternoon, Nitrauer Families!

This week all K-4 schools across the District returned to the green instructional mode. We will continue learning “in green” unless we communicate to you otherwise.

*Important Information about Remote Learning*

As in years past, when a student is ill, they will be marked absent for the day(s) missed. Students should not be joining zoom links or completing Seesaw assignments when home sick from school.

If your child will be out for an extended period, please first reach out to our nurse, Mrs.Lancelotta (lancelka@mtwp.net). After you talk to her, you may reach out to your child’s teacher to ask if/when remote learning can take place. Your child’s teacher will provide you with details about how your child’s remote schedule may look during their extended absence.

A child’s one-day absence does not mean they will automatically zoom into the class’s lessons/work/morning meetings. Remote instruction needs to be coordinated between the teacher and you.

Please do not have your child zoom into a morning meeting or class lesson until you have communicated with and heard back from the teacher.

*Reminder!*

Tuesday is an early dismissal day and elementary students are dismissed at 1:40pm!

Nitrauer Update — December 4th

From Dr. Hancock

Good afternoon, Nitrauer Families!

I am very proud of the incredibly hard work our students and staff demonstrated this week as we experienced our first “yellow” phase of learning! There’s important info below–please read carefully!

Returning to “Green” Phase Next Week!!

On Monday, December 7, Manheim Township K-4 elementary schools will return to the green instructional mode, which means face-to-face students will return to the building every day. Please be sure to send your student’s charged iPad and all other materials to school with him/her on Mon, Dec. 7.

Mitten/Hat/Coat Drive

We will be having a mitten, hat, and coat drive this year. If you are interested in donating a new, unused item, please send it in (unwrapped) to school with your child.

Recess on Cold Days:

If the “feels like” temp is 19 or below, we stay indoors for recess.

If the “feels like” temp is above 20, we go outside for recess.

Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately. Let us know if you are in need of proper winter clothing!

Picture Retake Day – January 28

Retake day has been moved to Thursday, January 28. This is an early dismissal day. Remote learners will have the opportunity to come to Nitrauer for a photo after 2pm. Stay tuned for more information!

If the weather ever causes us to have a two-hour delay, we would:

  • Notify you about the delay (email and text notification)
  • Start school at 11:00 a.m.
  • BREAKFAST: We do serve breakfast on a limited basis on a two-hour delay schedule.
  • BUS ARRIVAL: Buses arrive at your child’s assigned stop approximately two hours after your normally scheduled time (If your bus usually arrives at 8:30 AM, your bus would arrive at approximately 10:30 AM).

Have a great weekend!

Nitrauer Update — November 30th

Dear Nitrauer Families,

We have an update and a reminder for you. Please read carefully as these will affect your child’s(ren’s) school schedule this week.

Update:

On Wednesday, 11/25/20, the PA Department of Health adjusted the travel order.  To clarify the impact of the change on students, we have captured the amendment to the Order with three points:

   Impact to families:

  • Students who are age 11 and under are not held to the quarantine or COVID test protocols – these students are cleared to return to school on 11/30/20.
  • A clarification to the Order was made for those who traveled out of state and returned in less than 24 hours; these individuals are exempt from the quarantine and COVID testing protocols.
  • Students (and staff) who are age 12+ are still held to the quarantine or COVID test protocols.

To see the complete Order, visit this link https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Pages/Travelers.aspx for more information.

 Reminder:

Last week MTSD sent you information that K-4 students will be learning in the “yellow” or hybrid model for this upcoming week–Monday, Nov. 30 to Friday, Dec. 4.

The “yellow” hybrid model means that students are assigned to Group A, Group B, or Group C and they are to report to school face-to-face or by remote learning only on certain days. Here are the specifics of how the week will look:

  • Group A–Students with last name starting with the letter A-L.
  • Group A will attend school face-to-face on Monday, Nov. 30 and Tuesday, Dec. 1.
  • Group A will learn from home (remote learning) on Wednesday, Dec. 2 and Thursday, Dec, 3.
  • Group B–Students with last name starting with the letter M-Z.
  • Group B will learn from home (remote learning) on Monday, Nov. 30 and Tuesday, Dec. 1.
  • Group B will attend school face-to-face on Wednesday, Dec. 2 and Thursday, Dec. 3.

All students in Group A and Group B will be remote students on Friday, 12/4.

  • Group C–Students in the following classes: AS, ES, LSS, and MDS
  • Group C will attend face-to-face all week, Monday, Nov. 30 – Friday, Dec. 4.

When your child is remotely learning, he/she is expected to zoom in at the assigned times (according to the

Seesaw schedule) as they did the week before Thanksgiving. Your child’s teacher will be teaching some students face-to-face and others remotely at the same time.  If you are unsure which group your child is in and when they should report face to face or learn remotely, please contact your child’s teacher via Seesaw.

Please see below for a table explaining the next few weeks of MTSD’s instructional schedule:
